The Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc. (PAR) is a not-for-profit organization serving paralegals and the legal community of the Greater Rochester Area since 1975.

Membership is open to qualifying paralegals, legal assistants, paralegal students, paralegal educators, and others throughout the Greater Rochester Area. For more information, please visit our Membership page.


PAR is a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA)  and the Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (ESAPA).

  • PAR Volunteer Team at the Salvation Army of Greater Rochester Toy Shop.  Volunteers helped families tour through the shop, pick out toys, restock toys in the shop and gift free food bags.  Thank you to all PAR volunteers and a special thank you to Board member, Francine McAndrew for coordinating a successful pro bono opportunity!

  • PAR Fundraiser : At the PAR Kick-Off dinner and 16th Annual Auction, the PAR golf committee was honored to present Just Cause the proceeds from its 6th Annual Nine and Dine Golf event held September 29, 2022 at Shadow Lake.  From right to left: Dina Beaudette, Chair of PAR Golf Committee, presents a $1,950 check to Just Cause representative Melissa Maki, along with committee members Tonya Moore, Lisa Mazur and Anne Marie Short.

    What is a Paralegal?
    As defined by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), a Paralegal is a person, qualified through education, training or work experience to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts and is customarily, but not exclusively, performed by a lawyer. This person may be retained or employed by a lawyer, law office, governmental agency or other entity or may be authorized by administrative, statutory or court authority to perform this work. Substantive shall mean work requiring recognition, evaluation, organization, analysis, and communication of relevant facts and legal concepts.
