The Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc. (PAR) is a not-for-profit organization serving paralegals and the legal community of the Greater Rochester Area since 1975.

Membership is open to qualifying paralegals, legal assistants, paralegal students, paralegal educators, and others throughout the Greater Rochester Area. For more information, please visit our Membership page.


PAR is a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA)  and the Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (ESAPA).

  • PAR 2020-2021 Scholarships PAR's $450 Scholarship recipient is Kathleen Delaney. The 2020-2021 PAR Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship of $450 was awarded to Amber Jones. Congratulations recipients! 
  • PAR 45th Anniversary Giveaway Did you know that the Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc. has been around for 45 years? To commemorate this special milestone PAR is offering a complimentary wine glass to current and former members and current sponsors! You must register on the Events page to receive a glass.
  • PAR Continuing Legal Education Classes are back!                   We know it's been a while, but PAR CLEs are back! Due to the effects of COVID-19 we have had to rethink how we present these to our members. Our CLE seminars will now be 100% virtual for viewing from the comfort of your own home or office. Check out our newest CLE offerings and register on the events page.

    What is a Paralegal?
    As defined by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), a Paralegal is a person, qualified through education, training or work experience to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts and is customarily, but not exclusively, performed by a lawyer. This person may be retained or employed by a lawyer, law office, governmental agency or other entity or may be authorized by administrative, statutory or court authority to perform this work. Substantive shall mean work requiring recognition, evaluation, organization, analysis, and communication of relevant facts and legal concepts.
